Labradorite is a grey-green variety of Feldspar that exhibits an intensely colorful play of eye-catching blue-green light across its planed surfaces, referred to as labradoresence.

Labradorite was officially discovered on St. Paul Island in Labrador, Canada, in 1770. However, pieces of the gemstone also have been found among Native American artifacts in Maine. Labradorite is said to detoxify the body and slow the aging process. Many say the stone heals mental confusion and indecision. Labradorite is found in Labrador (Canada), Madagascar, Finland, and Norway.

Sterling silver is a white, highly reflective precious metal composed of 925 parts of pure silver and 75 parts alloy, usually copper. Copper provides the silver with sufficient hardness and wearing qualities, as pure silver is sometimes considered too soft to be used or worn everyday.

At times, we oxidize or "antique" our finished sterling pieces to blacken the recessed areas, and then rub the rest of the piece to a high white shine. Oxidizing can give a piece of jewelry wonderful depth and rustic feel.
