The sterling on these earrings is polished and shiny. If you prefer the oxidized look, you can leave it unpolished and out in the air to achieve that effect, or I can antique it before sending it out to you. The name for this coveted wine-colored gemstone comes from the Latin granatus for "seedlike," possibly because the crystals resemble pomegranate seeds. Though the red-colored garnet receives the most recognition, the stone also appears in yellow, orange, green, pink, white and gray.
